Jean & Joan event raises $37,000 for Beebe cancer care
The Jean & Joan Golf Tournament committee recently presented Beebe Medical Foundation with a donation of $37,100 for Beebe Healthcare’s Patient Special Needs Fund from the proceeds of the 24th Annual Jean & Joan Tournament held at Kings Creek Country Club near Rehoboth Beach.
The Jean & Joan Cancer Fund was started in 1999 in memory of local cancer victims Jean James and Joan Martin, and it has donated more than $705,000 from tournament proceeds to support cancer care through Beebe Oncology Services. The Jean & Joan Committee, under the leadership of Event Chair Cherrie Rich, hosted 120 golfers at Kings Creek and continued the tradition of raising funds for Beebe oncology services.
“The Jean & Joan Fund has been a longtime supporter of Beebe by raising these funds for our local nonprofit healthcare system,” said Amy Keller, Beebe Medical Foundation event coordinator. “The funds they’ve raised continue the long-standing legacy of the impact on lives right here in Sussex County.”
“The legacy of this tournament is truly amazing,” said Kay Young, Beebe Medical Foundation executive director. “The Kings Creek community has a beautiful culture of caring and supporting one another, and this Jean & Joan Fund empowers Beebe oncology to deliver care and support to patients and families in need throughout Sussex County. Beebe Medical Foundation is grateful to all of the donors, sponsors and volunteers for this special annual event.”
The 25th Annual Jean & Joan Tournament will be held Monday, Sept. 9, at Kings Creek Country Club.
“Our Jean & Joan Cancer Fund Committee is committed to continuing our established mission of raising funds through this tournament to support oncology services for the residents of Sussex County and looks forward to our 25th anniversary of this event,” said Rich.
