December 17, 2023

Kenneth Emerson Mills, 87, of Rehoboth Beach, passed away at home Friday, Dec. 15, 2023. He was born May 14, 1936 in Cambridge, Md., son of the late Frieda Louise (Brooks) Mills.

Kenneth attended Goldey Beacom College after serving his country in the U.S. Army. After meeting Phyllis, the love of his life, they married and raised their family in Wilmington. He had a successful career as a consultant with Architectural Hardware Company of Wilmington, retiring after many dedicated years. During retirement, he and Phyllis moved to Rehoboth Beach, where they owned and operated The Village Toy Store. Always successful together, they were in the pioneering days of internet toy sales and shipping. They enjoyed keeping their many customers happy.

Kenneth was a member of St. Edmond Catholic Church, and his strong faith was a cornerstone of his life. He shared a love of travel with his cherished wife, and together they have gone on many adventures. More than anything, he treasured the time spent with his family. Kenneth was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. His presence and never-ending energy will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

In addition to his parents, Kenneth is predeceased by his sister, Ruth Ann Nichols and his brother-in-law, Jim Nichols. Mills Jr., and Diane (James) Murphy.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 20, at St. Edmond Catholic Church, 409 King Charles Ave., Rehoboth Beach, where friends may visit beginning at 10 a.m.
