Delmarva Christian girls’ basketball rolls past Central
The Delmarva Christian girls’ basketball team moved to 6-0 with a 57-14 running-clock victory over Sussex Central Dec. 16. The Knights move to 0-3.
Royals senior Journey Handy led the team with 17 points, seven rebounds and nine steals. Sophomore Eve Bohinski had a double-double, scoring 10 points and 10 rebounds to go along with three steals. Junior guard Layni Dukes tallied eight points, four rebounds and three steals. Senior Ryley McCluskey had five points and five steals. Junior Bella Marinelli hit for seven points with four steals.
Playing a consistent defensive game down low was Royals senior Josephine Peranteau, who continues to be a leader on the court.
“Things kind of got a little scrappy,” said Peranteau. “They were aggressive, so I had to get more aggressive down low. We just have to come out aggressive from the start and keep it going.”
The Golden Knights were led by Laniah Wright with five points. Kayla Jacko scored four.
The Royals will travel to Brandywine for a game at 3:30 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 20, before heading to Sussex Tech at 5:15 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 21.
