Lights of Life gala to benefit breast cancer coalition March 2

Organizers seek sponsors and auction donations
December 24, 2023

The Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition announced its Lights of Life gala will take place from 5 to 9:30 p.m., Saturday, March 2, at Bally’s Dover Casino Resort, with entertainment from well-known local band Kristen and the Noise.

There are numerous ways to join in on the fun and support the 2024 gala. In addition to attending, interested parties can sponsor, donate auction items, participate in the online auction, and purchase a tribute to be displayed at the event.

DBCC’s Lights of Life Gala is an evening of living and giving made possible with community support. Sponsorship benefits include brand collaboration opportunities to promote an organization’s support of the upcoming event as well as prominent exposure at the event itself. The auctions are a great way to highlight an organization while giving to a great cause. All auction donors will be listed on the event website as well.

Okemah Strickland, a repeat sponsor and committee member for the event and a breast cancer survivor herself, said, “The entire event is a great way to meet people and to witness how the proceeds directly benefit survivors.”

Sponsorships and auction donations to the Lights of Life Gala auctions will help generate significant and needed funding to sustain DBCC’s survivorship support and education programs. The auction features a range of unique items, once-in-a-lifetime experiences, sports memorabilia, salon and spa services, jewelry, home furnishings, golf outings, beach getaways, international trips, and gift cards.

A highlight is the survivor showcase. Every year, a group of survivors is selected to stroll down the runway, escorted by “special agents” (a.k.a. local medical professionals), and have their stories shared with the gala audience. This unique experience provides an atmosphere for survivors to feel empowered while also allowing the audience to gain perspective on the experiences of those dealing with breast cancer while understanding how DBCC’s programs have improved their lives.

Nicole Davis, a breast cancer survivor walking in this year’s showcase, said, ”It’s a great feeling to be able to celebrate being cancer-free.”
