George Robert Dumont, veteran, retired engineer

George Robert Dumont, 88, of Lewes, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2024, at his late residence. He was born July 12, 1935, in Brooklyn, N.Y., son of the late George Andrew and Margaret Lozito Dumont.

George’s career as a design engineer spanned 30 years; he was employed by Grumman Aerospace on Long Island, N.Y. He proudly served eight years as a radarman in the U.S. Navy Reserves.

George is survived by his wife, Margaret Marcoccio Dumont, whom he married July 11, 1959, in Brooklyn, N.Y.; his two children, Denise and Michael; and his grandchildren, Andrea, Amanda and Angela.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 16, at St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church, 152 Tulip Drive, Lewes, where a viewing will begin at 10 a.m. Interment will be held privately at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Dagsboro.
