Plunge Sauce innovation benefits Special Olympics Delaware

In a flavorful collaboration, Devil Daves Bloody Mary Shop and Delaware Sauce Company are proud to announce the release of Plunge Sauce, a Chesapeake hot sauce commemorating the 2024 Polar Plunge in Rehoboth Beach.

Devil Daves commits to donating 25% of all Plunge Sauce sales to Special Olympics Delaware, contributing to its mission of empowering athletes with intellectual disabilities. 

Following their successful partnership in 2023, which saw the release of the award-winning Dilly Pepper, these two culinary innovators are back to spice things up again. “Delaware Sauce Company crafted the original Chesapeake brand hot sauce, while Impact Graphix in Seaford designed the eye-catching labels,” said Ryan Pakenas, owner of Devil Daves Bloody Mary Shop.

A Chesapeake-style gourmet sauce created by Rick Ewing of Seaford-based Delaware Sauce Company, Plunge Sauce boasts a rich, cayenne-based flavor profile with medium heat. Perfect for wings or as a versatile everyday condiment, it’s packed in a practical 5 oz bottle.

The sauce will be available starting Friday, Jan. 26, allowing enthusiasts to enjoy it before or during the Polar Plunge event set for 1 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 4, and beyond. Devil Daves is set to handle the sauce sales in the store at at 222 Rehoboth Ave., Rehoboth Beach, and online at Devildaves.com; purchasers of multiple bottles will receive a discount.

To join in and support the cause, local bars and restaurants are encouraged to contact Devil Daves to have bottles of the Plunge Sauce in their establishment for sale or use. “We are thrilled to be working with Delaware Sauce Company again. Crafting this sauce for the 2024 Polar Plunge is a great opportunity for us to do something fun but also raise money for the Special Olympics Delaware,” said Pakenas. “We hope the community will stop in to sample sauces and take one home too.”
