Gloria V. Foreman, devoted mother
Gloria V. Foreman, 94, of Harbeson, passed away Friday, Jan. 19, 2024, after a long battle with congestive heart failure and chronic kidney disease.
Gloria was born to Catherine Pride and Theodore Swiggett Oct. 1, 1929, in Ridley Park, Pa. Hattie P. Burton then adopted her as a little girl. After graduating from Chester High School in 1946, she studied business at Delaware Technical College.
She landed her first job as an administrative clerk for the Federal Reserve Bank, N.Y., for two years. Later, she worked at Dover Air Force Base for four years and Social Security Administration for 10 years, retiring in 1990.
In 1956, she met Curry Brown, and they wed in 1959, going on to have three children, Ronald B. Brown, Kevin C. Brown and Karen H. Brown. She divorced, later married Spencer T. Foreman, and had her fourth child, Daphne M. Foreman.
Gloria stressed getting a good education for her children and worked tirelessly to send all four of her children to college. She loved Broadway shows and dining out. She loved fashion, shopping, and going out with friends. She dedicated her life to being a fantastic mother. She made it her mission to support her children through the many ups and downs. She always encouraged others to do their best and never abandon their dreams.
We will miss Gloria as a very caring, loving, and kind person.
