Betty Ann Olsen, enjoyed golfing, entertaining

Betty Ann (Howard) Olsen, 91, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2024.

Betty was born in Fairland, Md., May 30, 1932, daughter of the late Edwin Howard and the late Mae (Duvall) Smith.

She is also preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Fred Donald Olsen; son, Michael William Albright; daughter, Gay Leigh (Albright) Cole; daughter-in-law, Jennifer Dohl; brother, Gerald Howard; aunts, Edna (Duvall) Musgrove and Lucielle (Duvall) Creel; and uncle, Charles Duvall. 

Betty is survived by a son, Don Olsen of Kansas City, Kan.; a grandson, Michael Ulrich and his wife Shannon of Senoia, Ga.; great-grandchildren, Joshua Ulrich and fiancée Chelsea Clark, Chelsea Davis and husband Drake, and Kayden Ulrich; and great-great-grandchildren, Ava Ulrich, Brayden Zelanko, and Brinley Davis. 

While she was born and raised in Maryland, Don’s job moved them to Michigan, Minnesota and Kansas City, retirement to Pinehurst, N.C., and then on to Millsboro. Many places have been home, and Betty loved making new friends, playing golf and entertaining along the way. 

A celebration of life will be held privately.

In lieu of flowers, make donations in Betty’s name to the American Cancer Society or Habitat for Humanity.
