Baked onboard: Pretzel truck ready to hit the road

If you see a truck painted like a giant soft pretzel in your rearview mirror, it can only be the Philly Pretzel Factory.

The Rehoboth Beach favorite put a lot of dough into a food truck to bring a new twist, with a little mustard, to events around the region.

“This is one of only two trucks in the company. The other is owned by corporate in Philadelphia,” said Katrina Lennox, owner of the Philly Pretzel Factory’s Rehoboth Beach franchise.

Lennox said the local factory on wheels made its debut at the Delaware State Fair last July, kind of a “soft-pretzel” opening.

She said that gave them valuable experience for what will be their first full year on the road. As it says on the side of the truck, “baked onboard.”

“We can cook anything on our menu – pretzel twists, hot dog pretzels. This year, we’re going to try out our new pretzel pizza,” Lennox said.

She said the truck’s first scheduled event of the year is Henlopen Spring Fest set for Saturday, May 25, at Hudson Fields near Milton. 

Lennox said they will soon have a tool on the company’s Facebook page to schedule the truck for private and corporate events.
