SoDel Cares supports Meals on Wheels Lewes-Rehoboth
SoDel Cares recently donated $5,000 to Meals on Wheels Lewes-Rehoboth. It takes more than 1,000 volunteers to cover 17 routes to ensure coastal residents receive much-needed hot meals as well as social contact.
Since 1970, Meals on Wheels Lewes-Rehoboth has delivered food to those in need. Today, the program serves about 300 clients in coastal communities.
“Meals on Wheels Lewes-Rehoboth remains focused on directly making an impact, and we are honored to support their mission,” said Scott Kammerer, founder of SoDel Cares.
SoDel Cares is the nonprofit arm of the SoDel family of companies, which includes Southern Delaware Brewing, Highwater Management, Surf Bagel and SoDel Concepts.
Fish On, SoDel’s Lewes restaurant, provides the kitchen where the nutritionally balanced meals are made and packaged for delivery.
“With so many moving to our area, the number of those needing help is dramatically increasing,” Kammerer said. “We built our businesses on providing beautiful, simple food to our local communities, and everyone deserves a nourishing plate of food.”
SoDel Cares was founded to support Delaware organizations that help children, at-risk youth and adults, and older people. Since its founding in 2017, the philanthropic arm of the SoDel family of companies has donated more than $1 million to area charities. Meals on Wheels Lewes-Rehoboth has been a regular beneficiary.
