Milton’s Twin Branch Winery goes Hollywood
As it gets ready to open for the season, Twin Branch Winery in Milton got a taste of the big time when it was featured on the Lifetime Network show “Theresa Caputo: Raising Spirits.”
The reality show follows psychic medium Theresa Caputo on a tour of the United States and Great Britain. The series’ Feb. 29 episode saw Caputo visit her cousins in Rehoboth Beach, which included a stop at Twin Branch.
General Manager Katie Hart said the production team reached out to her in August about doing a segment at the winery.
“They were looking for a nice place to take Theresa and also just wanted to showcase some of the different things the Delaware beaches have to offer. For the most part, they just wanted footage of the winery and thought it would be a nice place to film with a nice atmosphere. We had no idea Theresa would end up doing a reading with one of our employees that day,” Hart said.
She said she enjoyed working with Caputo, who had a previous reality series called “Long Island Medium.”
“She was such a sweet and kind person,” Hart said. “Most of us knew who she was before we got to meet her, but [we] obviously had never met her prior to filming. The second she walked in the front door was the first time we had any interaction, but it was like you were talking and hanging out with an old friend! She made everyone feel so comfortable and was genuinely one of the nicest people I had ever met. She even took time to take some photos with some of the staff members of Twin Branch that day.”
Meanwhile, Twin Branch is preparing for its grand reopening in the spring following an off-season closure for repairs. Hart said while there is no official reopening date yet, she is optimistic Twin Branch will be open in April in time for its one-year anniversary.
Co-owner Wayne Hawkins said the winery will be installing a 15-foot water tower on site that will feed to a new fire prevention system on the second floor, main bar and outdoor patio of the winery’s tasting room. He said the outdoor deck will be extended an additional 30 feet wide and 100 feet long, which will allow Twin Branch to start hosting small outdoor events and weddings. In addition, Hawkins said the winery is going to expand its vineyard to allow for 3,000 more vines to be planted. He said next year, Twin Branch will add 3,000 more. But that is only setting the stage for a larger expansion of the vineyard on an additional 8 acres of the property that have been cleared for use. Hawkins said the winery will put tester plants on that land to prepare the soil for vineyards to be planted.
