Naomi L. Ingram Betts, woman of faith

Naomi L. Ingram Betts, 100, of Milton, went home to the Lord Friday, March 22, 2024.

Naomi was born in Ellendale Jan. 30, 1924, to Dorsey and Estella Morgan. Naomi moved to Argo’s Corner, where she married her husband and father of her children, Paynter Ingram, who preceded her in death in 1961. Naomi moved to Milton with her second marriage to George Betts, who preceded her in death in 1988.

Naomi was a homemaker and later became a school bus driver. She was an avid reader and puzzle lover. Her true passions were her family, cooking and bird-watching. She will be especially remembered for her grace, strength, and dignity, along with the way she lovingly touched the lives of everyone she met. Raising six children as a single parent, the Lord was her strength and guided her throughout life.

Naomi is survived by her five living children, Charlotte Black, Rena Fagan, Allen (Mary) Ingram, Betty Carmean and Phillip (Karen) Ingram; grandchildren, Eric Black, Jeremy Black, Tim Fagan, Vickie Fagan, Allen Ingram Jr., Jordan Ingram, Emma Ingram, Ceeter Carmean, Christopher Carmean, Phillip Ingram Jr., Melanie Ingram and Martin Ingram Jr. She is also survived by 11 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her son, Martin Ingram, in 2009.

The family would like to thank the Milton Fire Department’s ambulance crew for their years of service and care given to her in her later years. Also thank you to Dr. Maria Haldar and Delaware Hospice for their care, love, and kindness.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Monday, April 1, at Short Funeral Services, 416 Federal St., Milton, where a time of visitation for family and friends will begin at noon. Burial will be at Slaughter Neck Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, make a donation in Naomi’s name to Milton Fire Department Ambulance Service, 116 Front St., Milton, DE 19968.
