Horn’s Pavilion is Rehoboth history lecture topic May 9

April 7, 2024

The next Rehoboth Beach History Lecture, discussing Horn’s Pavilion, is set for 7:15 p.m., Thursday, May 9, in the Sussex Room at the Boardwalk Plaza Hotel. Paul Lovett, creator of the miniature village diorama of 1910 Railroad Era Rehoboth, will moderate.

Positioned over the beach at the east end of Rehoboth Avenue from 1899 to 1914, Horn’s Pavilion was the most photographed building in Rehoboth’s history. It was described in a 1905 brochure as, “the store that made Rehoboth famous.” Rehoboth is fortunate to have descendants of the founder, James Solomon Horn, still living today. All are invited to come to the lecture and hear the stories.

A donation of $25 is requested for the lecture. Proceeds in excess of expenses will go to sustain the diorama project. To reserve a seat, call Lovett at 302-893-9391.

Attendees are encouraged to begin with dinner in the beautiful Victoria’s Restaurant next to the lecture venue. Reservations should be made for 5:30 p.m. or earlier to allow time for an enjoyable meal before the presentation begins; call 302-227-0615 to reserve dinner seats.
