April 4, 2024

Louise C. Dukes Penza, 95, of Wausau, Fla., passed away Saturday, March 30, 2024, at Washington Nursing Center in Chipley, Fla.

Louise was born June 13, 1928, in Selbyville, to the late J. Edward Shockley and Mae (Hudson) Shockley. Louise graduated as valedictorian of her class from Williamsville school.

Louise was an avid gardener, something she learned from her Pop Pop Shockley. Louise was very talented at anything she set out to do, finishing with making miniature pieces to be sold to help make complete miniature houses for enthusiasts of miniature collections. Some of her work is displayed in a museum in Tallahassee, Fla.

Louise is survived by her sister, Nancy Shockley Furbush (Robert); sons, David J. Dukes (Christine), Martin D. Dukes (Terry) and Daniel L. Dukes (Denise); daughter, Maria Perogine (Mike); grandchildren, Michael D. Dukes (Laura), Dustin Dukes, Ashley Dukes Steele (Jon) and Elena Perogine; great-grandchildren, Brooklynn Steele and Landon Dukes; and daughter-in-law, Roxanne Dukes, who cared for Louise after her oldest son Marvin E. Dukes passed in 2018.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Roxanne, Emerald Coast Hospice in Chipley and Washington Nursing Center for all their care and love for Louise.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
