The Lewes Historical Society hosted its Hearty in the Cause: Living History 1776 event April 6 and 7, at the historic complex on Shipcarpenter Street. More than 20 interpreters dressed in period garb to illustrate life in Lewes when the realities of war awakened a patriotic fervor in the quaint town.
