Jean was the only child of Peter and Marie D’Addio and grew up in the Bronx, New York City. Jean graduated from Christopher Columbus High School, where she began a career in accounting. However, she met the love of her life, Salvatore J. Masone, and married Nov. 11, 1951. They had four children they raised at their home in the Bronx, Robert, Rosemarie, Anthony and Andrew. The family is very close. Salvatore was a NYC fireman and died in 1979 at 48. All four children graduated college and are professionals. They remained very close to their mother, loved her with all their hearts, and thought she was their hero!
Jean worked in the insurance industry in New York after her husband’s untimely death. In 1995, she relocated to Lewes to be near her grandchildren and worked in the finance industry there for many years. In Lewes, she was active in her community and served on the Plantations HOA board and as its president. She was an active tennis player well into her 70s. In her 80s, she helped a grandson get started in the restaurant business, making “Grandma’s meatballs” famous in the beach area.
After retirement, Jean enjoyed volunteering at her church. She was an active parishioner of St. Jude the Apostle Church in Lewes. She helped in the church library and participated in adoration. She had many friends and enjoyed Sunday dinner for her family of 12 or more each week after Mass. She loved this life and looked forward to her next life in heaven.
She is survived by her son, Robert Masone and his wife Linda Ann; her daughter, Rosemarie Masone, her children Michael and Stephen Berardinelli, and her great-grandchild Gabriel Berardinelli; her son, Anthony Masone, his wife Gretter, and their children Alexander, Salina, Sophia, Adrienne, Isabella and Luciana; and her youngest son, Andrew Masone, his wife Brigette, and their children Sabrina, Daniella and Dominic.
