Glenn S. Sharman, truly enjoyed people

May 25, 2024

Glenn Stuart Sharman passed away peacefully Thursday, May 23, 2024, at his home in Georgetown.

Glenn was born in 1926 to missionary parents, Robert Clark Sharman and Nellie Catherine Shankel, in Basutoland, Africa. When he was 16, along with his parents and younger sister, Kathy, he moved to Alberta, Canada. After completing the seminary, he was ordained as a Seventh-day Adventist minister, and over the next 30 years he pastored churches in Virginia, West Virginia, Colorado, Texas and Maryland.

Although he left the pastor role, he never really retired, picking up a variety of jobs well into his 90s. Glenn truly enjoyed people and relished human interactions. His career choices allowed him to live in diverse locations and form many relationships. He was quick to strike up conversations with strangers, and always ready with a positive, often humorous, comment. He was fond of telling stories and tall tales. He loved nature and spent many hours outdoors walking, fishing and camping. His favorite place to commune with nature was Big Sur.

He is survived by his children, Daryl, Don and Kathy; 13 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren; as well as nieces and extended family.

No services will be held at this time. In lieu of flowers, donations in Glenn’s memory can be made to ADRA, The Adventist Development and Relief Agency International, adra.org.
