Christopher Metler, had joyful spirit
Christopher Metler, fondly known as Chris, born Nov. 20, 1962, in Washington, D.C., passed away Monday, May 20, 2024, in Milford. He was the beloved son of the late Raymond Boyd Sr. and Genevieve Marie (Conroy) Metler.
After graduating from high school, Chris dedicated many years working at Easterseals Tunnell Center in various capacities. He was also an accomplished Special Olympics athlete, earning gold medals in the breaststroke and backstroke. Chris competed and medaled in numerous other sports, including bocci ball and bowling.
Chris was a cherished resident of Woodbridge House in Georgetown, where he enjoyed spending time with friends and dancing. His joyful spirit and love for life touched many.
He was preceded in death by his parents and Chick Metler. Chris is survived by his siblings: Ronnie Cervenka (Bill), Ray Boyd Metler Jr., Bob Metler (Ann), Bill Metler (Cyndy), Jim Metler (Mary), and Jeanny Adams and his sister-in-law, Donna Metler. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews who will miss him dearly.
A memorial service to celebrate Chris's life will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, May 29, at Watson Funeral Home in Millsboro. A visitation will take place from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the service. Interment will be private.
