LYC debuts renovated, expanded clubhouse

The Lewes Yacht Club opened the doors of its newly expanded, modernized and renovated clubhouse and pool house over Memorial Day weekend. Construction has been ongoing for nearly two years. The club plans to have an official grand opening later in June when all work is expected to be completed.
The traditional May 25 opening featured a flag-raising ceremony to start the season, a champagne toast and firing of a mini cannon by longtime member Ned Maull.
Taking part in the flag-raising ceremony are (l-r) Ron Krajewski, rear commodore; Tim Douglas, board member; Tom Ferry, commodore; and Greg Weer, vice commodore.
Warm weather over the weekend draws a large crowd to the LYC pool, which was closed last year during construction.
The new second-floor bar area compliments the downstairs bar.
A view of the Broadkill River from the windows of the new all-purpose room addition on the second floor. It will be a perfect spot to watch sunsets.
