Beebe Healthcare hosts Miracle Mile walk for cancer

Beebe Healthcare held its annual Miracle Mile June 2 to raise awareness and support for cancer survivors and caregivers. The event, which included a mile-long walk, took place outside the Specialty Surgical Hospital north of Rehoboth Beach. Any donations made benefit the Tunnell Cancer Center’s Patient Special Needs Fund, which helps cover the cost of bills, food and more.
“Unfortunately, a lot of times when people find out they have cancer, their first question is, ‘How much is this going to cost?’ This event allows us to finance the Special Needs Fund so they can focus on getting better,” said Maurice Winkfield, executive director of oncology services.

Trudy Graboyes and her husband had to leave their jobs after her cancer diagnosis, and she is very grateful for the assistance of the Tunnell Cancer Center’s Patient Special Needs Fund.
