Frank L. Casey, 76, of Cool Spring, was called home by his Lord Jesus Saturday morning, June 8, 2024, while at Jefferson Hospital in Philadelphia. We are grateful to Dr. Eduardo Rame, his cardiologist at Jefferson, who worked behind the scenes to get Frank the best of care.
A much-loved man whose number one desire was to encourage others to know the Jesus of the Bible, Frank had a special heart for those who were discouraged, felt bad about their past, and didn’t see themselves as worth loving. He was always looking for ways to share the gospel with others and loved to give away books that would help people understand why Jesus died on the cross, rose from the dead and is coming back very soon for his church.
Frank graduated from the Philadelphia School of Pharmacy in January 1972 and worked for many years at Edgehill in Lewes and Rehoboth. In 1981, with the help of his mom, dad and grandmom, he opened Milton Pharmacy and married Bunni the same year. He loved his customers, enjoyed making people laugh, and kept Christian music on in the store all the time. He sold the business to Happy Harry’s in Milton after almost 30 years of running a thriving business.
Frank taught himself to play the bass guitar and sang and played on various worship teams. His passion was to worship the Lord through music and preaching. In the early 1980s he was asked by a friend to go into Sussex Correctional Institution in Georgetown to teach a Bible study. He continued ministering there until the mid-‘90s. He also participated in plays in the prison and discipled a number of the men for years.
Though limited in his ability to walk well for the past 11 years, Frank still reached out to others on the phone, sharing for hours how the Lord had saved his life and would do the same for them. He is truly irreplaceable as a husband, friend, and brother in the Lord.
Frank was preceded in death by his beloved youngest daughter, Mona Casey; his devoted parents, Lemuel and Catherine Casey; and his life-loving sister, Melody McKnight.
He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Diana “Bunni” Casey; his dear brother, Joey Casey and his family; his sweet sister, Patti Riccio and her family; Melody McKnight’s family; his oldest daughter, Susan Casey, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins, as well as very close friends. Frank also left behind his four cat buddies, Vinny, Sonny, Natalie and Prince, who already miss him very much.
With all our hearts, we thank all those who prayed so fervently for Frank these past weeks and encouraged Bunni so much. The Lord may have called him home rather than chosen to heal his heart condition, but he poured out his mercy and grace on Frank in multitudes of ways till the very end.
A special thanks to Jeanna Hooley, our “adopted daughter” and friend, who sacrificed so much to stay with Frank and Bunni these past weeks. Without her (and her husband Kyle), it would have been a much harder journey. Much harder.
For years Frank prayed that when the end of his life came, if the rapture didn’t happen first, he would depart having been pleasing to the Lord. He accomplished his goal. Frank finished well; a life well lived.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, June 17, at Crossroad Community Church, 20684 State Forest Road, Georgetown, where a visitation for family and friends begins at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Harbeson Cemetery.
