John David Isaacs, avid surfer, landscaper
John “Dave” David Isaacs, 80, passed away at home Thursday, May 30, 2024. Dave was born Nov. 23, 1943, in Cleveland, Ohio, to Newal and Marian “Jeanne” Isaacs. The family later moved to Georgetown, where Dave grew up. He graduated from Randolph-Macon military school, Front Royal, Va., where he played on the football team.
Dave loved landscaping. He ran a landscaping business and Isaacs Garden Center in Sussex County for decades. He was an avid surfer and won several championships on the East Coast. He took trips with his surfing buddies and especially enjoyed Costa Rica.
Dave loved bicycling and skiing. He was a dedicated Boy Scout leader to his troops, including his sons, Jack and Jeff. He also loved animals. He had many stories about his cats, Tugger, Bonnie, and Clyde, and dogs, Spike and Dino, and his childhood dog, Greta.
Dave is preceded in death by his grandmother, Gaga; parents; brother, Robert Scott Isaacs; granddaughter, Isabella Isaacs; and beloved son, Dylan.
Dave leaves behind his wife, Elizabeth; children, Kim and Kevin Taha, Jack and Jodi Isaacs, and Jeff and Shannon Isaacs; their mother, Betsy Isaacs; and his siblings, Jay and Terri Isaacs. He also leaves behind his in-laws, Steve and Dee Pyne, Dave and Donna Pyne, and Sonny and Nancy Boone; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
