Safety council discounts defensive driver courses for summer

June 21, 2024

The 2024 summer driving season is well underway, according to the Delaware Safety Council. Because June, July and August are often called “the 100 deadliest days for drivers in the U.S.,” the council is offering significant savings on fees for online defensive driving course enrollments for a limited time, as a proactive response to help more drivers arrive alive in Delaware.

DSC offers these Delaware DMV-authorized, self-paced online defensive driving courses, basic and advanced/refresher, in both English and Spanish. The first 100 Delaware licensed drivers to sign up for the DSC basic defensive driving program who use the discount code DRB1919 at checkout can take the course for $19.19, a savings of more than 25%.

Drivers who have not previously completed a Delaware DMV-authorized course, or have taken a previous course but let the certificate lapse for more than 24 months, must first take the basic course in order to qualify for savings.

When drivers complete the basic course, they are presented with an online certificate to be forwarded to their automobile insurance provider. It gives them a 10% discount for liability coverage costs for three years as required by Delaware law, at tinyurl.com/ytkp5gfj.

If a driver has already completed a Delaware DMV-authorized course, then the advanced/refresher course is the correct option. The first 100 Delaware licensed drivers to sign up for the advanced/refresher defensive driving program who use the discount cose DRA1919 at checkout can take this course for $19.19.

When drivers complete the advanced/refresher course, they earn an online certificate to send to their automobile insurance provider, giving them a 15% discount for liability coverage costs for three years as required by Delaware law.

To maximize potential automobile liability insurance discounts, all drivers listed on the automobile insurance policy should complete the appropriate defensive driving course.
