Buffalo Wild Wings Foundation supports Sussex Consortium
The Buffalo Wild Wings Foundation recently donated $6,000 to the Cape Henlopen School District in support of the Sussex Consortium.
Throughout 2024, the foundation will donate more than $3 million to organizations supporting various youth initiatives that help kids thrive, compete and belong to a team. Of the total donation amount, $1 million will go toward Boys & Girls Clubs of America, and the remaining $2 million will support more than 300 local youth-serving nonprofits throughout the United States.
Guests can support kids in their community by purchasing sauce bottles from their local Buffalo Wild Wings. For every sauce bottle purchased, $1 will benefit the Buffalo Wild Wings Foundation’s partnership with Boys & Girls Clubs of America and hundreds of other local nonprofits.

Possum Point Players seek hair and wig stylist for fall show
Possum Point Players is looking for a volunteer to help with wig and hair styling for its fall comedy, “Something Rotten.”
Jim Hartzell will direct, and Donna de Kuyper is in charge of makeup.
Show dates are Friday to Sunday, Sept. 27 to 29, and Oct. 4 to 6, at Possum Hall, 441 Old Laurel Road, Georgetown.
“Something Rotten” takes place in 1590, near the end of the Elizabethan era and the time of William Shakespeare, when elaborate hairstyles and wigs were prominent.
“We are looking for a volunteer or volunteers who might be able to devote some time to designing, and possibly assisting the cast with proper styling and care,” said de Kuyper.

Lightship Overfalls children’s program set June 21
The Lightship Overfalls will offer a children’s program at 9:30 a.m., Friday, June 21. The program is open to children 8-12 years of age, and each child must be accompanied by an adult.
Attendees will have an opportunity to explore the Lightship Overfalls, and learn about the history of lightships and the lives and challenges of those who served aboard.
This program features the language of signal flags, and attendees will learn how to use the flag alphabet to communicate. There will also be a crafting session where attendees will create their own flag design as a take-home souvenir.
The event is free and open to the public, but registration is required to ensure sufficient materials are on hand for the crafting session.

All Saints’ to host author June 22
All Saints’ Church will host the Rev. Jerry Ray Anderson, a retired Episcopal priest, for a discussion of his book, “Ordained by Angels: Memoir of an AIDS Chaplain,” at 6 p.m., Saturday, June 22, at 18 Olive Ave., Rehoboth Beach. Anderson wrote his memoir in conjunction with Shaun Sanders to share his story of being on the front lines at the very beginning of the AIDS crisis, long before coming out in the church was acceptable. Anderson said chapter one actually takes place in Rehoboth Beach during the summer of 1983.
The event will take place after the church's 5 p.m. outdoor garden service. Light refreshments will be served, and copies of Anderson’s books will be available for purchase. Women of the Bible program set June 22
Harmony United Methodist Church will sponsor a Women of the Bible program at 12 p.m., Saturday, June 22, at 27270 John J. Williams Highway, Millsboro. The women of Harmony UMC, along with women invited from several churches in the Millsboro community, will portray and present the stories of seven biblical women.
“Many women of the Bible were strong, remarkable leaders who impacted the world. Some were saints; some were not so saintly. Some were queens, but most biblical women were ordinary commoners who led impressive lives and set examples of courage, diligence and love for today’s modern woman,” said Wilhelmina D.Stevenson, staff parish relations committee chair.
The public is invited to hear, see and witness the unique character of each woman as she is enacted, along with special guest music. A complimentary light lunch will be served after the program.
Craft show to benefit suicide loss survivor programs June 23
Leap of Faith events will host a craft show fundraiser from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Sunday, June 23, at the Carlisle Fire Company, 615 Front St., Milford.
Proceeds will benefit DJ's Alliance, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting suicide loss survivors in Delaware.
DJ's Alliance provides crucial support through peer-to-peer programs, community outreach, advocacy and other opportunities aimed at aiding those affected by suicide loss. More than 40 vendors will offer a wide array of crafts and products for sale. Attendees can also participate in a silent auction and a 50/50 raffle, with all proceeds directly supporting DJ's Alliance programs.
"We are committed to making a meaningful difference in the lives of suicide loss survivors," said Jennifer Antonik, creator of DJ's Alliance. "This fundraiser not only provides vital financial support but also raises awareness about the resources available to those in need."

UUSD to meet June 23
The Unitarian Universalists of Southern Delaware will hold an in-person and livestreamed service at 10 a.m., Sunday, June 23, during the UUA General Assembly. Susan Goekler and Julie Keefer will host. “We are all tangled up together in a great web of life that is woven with beauty and hardship, love and loss, thriving and struggle. How do we tend well to the weaving so that all of us are held in care? Although you can watch the service online as usual, we hope you will come to our UUSD sanctuary to experience this 90-minute, prerecorded video,” said Goekler. Cape youth football camp set June 24-28
The Cape Henlopen Vikings Varsity Youth Football Camp will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Monday, June 24 through Friday, June 28, at Cape Henlopen High School in Lewes. Campers from third through eighth grade will be instructed by the Cape Henlopen High School varsity football staff. The camp is the ultimate opportunity for young athletes to immerse themselves in football while honing skills, building teamwork and creating lasting memories. Cost is $100. Clear Space Theatre summer repertory shows kick off June 25
Clear Space Theatre Company’s summer repertory season will feature “Jersey Boys,” “Rock of Ages” and “The Prom.”
Clear Space summer casts include a combination of returning national artists, national artists new to its stage, favorite local performers, and a special ensemble of teens who will supplement the cast of “The Prom.”
The main stage shows will be performed in rotation three times a week from Tuesday, June 25 through Saturday, Aug. 31, at 20 Baltimore Ave., Rehoboth Beach. Summer visitors can enjoy all three productions over the course of a weeklong vacation to the Delaware beaches.
Ensemble members will also perform in a series of late-night cabaret events and in morning performances of two short plays for young audiences.

Out Run Hunger 5K to benefit food bank June 26
The Food Bank of Delaware will hold its third annual Out Run Hunger 5K Run/Walk at 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, June 26, at 102 Delaware Veterans Blvd., Milford.
Proceeds from the event will benefit the Food Bank of Delaware’s hunger-relief operations in Kent and Sussex counties. A recent study by Feeding America found that more than 57,000 residents of Kent and Sussex counties are food-insecure.
A post-race party will feature tie-dying, food prepared by the FBD culinary team, libations from EasySpeak Spirits and music.

Millsboro library seeks book sale donations through June 27
The Friends of the Millsboro Public Library group is collecting books for its summer sale. Book donations will be accepted from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Tuesdays, and 1 to 5 p.m., Thursdays through June 27, at 217 W. State St., Millsboro. A Friends representative will be available to accept donations at the library door and help those who need assistance. Acceptable donations include fiction and nonfiction, paperbacks and hardbacks with the exception of textbooks and encyclopedias. All profits are used to support various library offerings, especially the children’s summer reading program.
The sale will run from Wednesday to Sunday, July 17 to 20, with times to be announced.
