Delaware’s first all-electric bike company, Seaside Eco Bikes, is set to open at 16779 Coastal Hwy. outside Lewes.
Seaside will offer rentals and sales for its products. Bookings can be made in person or virtually. One must be 16 years old to ride and 21 years old to rent. Seaside Eco Bikes will sell and rent bikes in numerous different price ranges and for a variety of different activities.
Seaside has partnered with Electric Bike Company to allow clients to fully customize and build their own electric bike. This will all be done hands-on by utilizing a touch-screen device. Seaside can also deliver fully assembled bikes via a new all-electric van.
Seaside is owned by Gilberto Medina. His wife, Kali, holds the operations manager position. The pair pride themselves on creating a family-oriented business environment that fits in with the local community.
Gilberto was in an accident, suffering a major knee injury about three years ago. During this time, he missed exercising regularly and riding a bike. However, he was able to jump on an electric bike and enjoy himself. This personal connection led to the desire to open an electric bike shop. He also feels that electric bikes are the new wave of transportation and is excited to play a part in it.
Seaside Eco Bikes hopes to be officially open by the second week of July. There are high hopes for the business, and if the company takes off, they will look to open another location.
