McGuiness has experience, expertise and drive

June 25, 2024

In a time when it feels like the political landscape is filled with nothing but division, misinformation and candidates running for the wrong reasons, it is especially important to support political candidates who are experienced, reliable, forward-thinking and relentlessly dedicated to serving their community, against all odds. I struggle to think of anyone who embodies those values better than Kathy McGuiness.

I have had the absolute pleasure of getting to know Kathy and her family over the past 12 years as her family friend and financial advisor. Over these years, I have seen and known Kathy in every aspect of her life – as a mother, a friend, a neighbor, a real estate agent, a pharmacist, a public servant, a lifelong resident of eastern Sussex County, and so much more. While she has thrived in every role she plays, it is clear her passion and calling in life is public service.

Opponents of Kathy will try to question her integrity by pointing to the five charges levied against her in 2021 while she was serving as state auditor. However, they will likely fail to mention that four of the charges were overturned, and that the only charge that stuck was a misdemeanor conflict-of-interest charge for hiring her daughter, which is something she obtained permission to do from several state entities. I would add many elected officials have hired their children and family members, and some still do today. While most people would allow that setback to stifle them, Kathy not only handled the experience with the utmost grace but has also used it to motivate her to forge on and do what she does best – serve her community.

It would be impossible to summarize the countless actions she’s taken and roles she’s filled in furtherance of her mission to serve the 14th District and beyond. I encourage you to dig deeper into her broad experience, and assure that you will be more than impressed.

If it has not been made clear, I am extremely proud to know Kathy, support Kathy, call Kathy chosen family and stand among so many outstanding individuals, including former speaker of the Delaware House and 14th District Rep. Pete Schwartzkopf, 20th District Rep. Stell Selby, former California congressman and co-author of the Americans with Disabilities Act Tony Coehlo, Dewey Beach Mayor Bill Stevens, Dewey Councilman Paul Bauer, Lewes Councilman Khalil Saliba, former Rehoboth Planning Commission Chair Richard Perry, Ambassador Tom McDonald, former Rehoboth Beach Commissioner Steve Scheffer, former Rehoboth Beach Main Street executive director, author and CAMP Letters contributor Fay Jacobs, author and Huffington Post contributor Peter Rosenstein, former Dewey Mayor Pat Wright, to name a few, in endorsing and supporting Kathy for the 14th District position.

While Kathy has more than enough experience, expertise and drive to get elected as the next representative of the 14th District, she does need your support. Please consider supporting her both financially and with your vote Sept. 10. You will not regret it!
