Milford man arrested in Big Chill Surf Cantina shooting
A Milford man who was sought in connection with the early morning shooting June 28 at Big Chill Surf Cantina on Route 1 near Rehoboth Beach has been arrested in Pennsylvania.
When extradited to Delaware, police said Jonathan Blackwell, 28, will be charged with felony first-degree assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and felony carrying a concealed deadly weapon.
Delaware State Police responded at 12:51 a.m. for a shooting report and learned a 27-year-old man was at a nearby hospital after suffering a gunshot wound to his leg. Police said a group of people was fighting in the parking lot of the restaurant when a man pulled out a handgun from a bag and fired one shot at the victim. Following the shooting, police said, everyone who was fighting fled. The victim was taken to the hospital by a private vehicle, where he was treated and released.
The Delaware State Police Troop 4 Criminal Investigations Unit continues to investigate this incident. Detectives ask anyone who has information regarding it to contact Detective J.
