‘Runaway Princess’ proceeds go to nonprofits addressing human trafficking

July 5, 2024

Four local nonprofits that address trafficking and mental and physical wellness in Delaware will receive a portion of proceeds from the April 28 presentation of “Runaway Princess: A Hopeful Tale of Heroin, Hooking and Happiness,” performed at Cape High by actress Mary Goggin.

A survivor of addiction, abuse and trafficking, Goggin wrote and performs her own one-woman show.

What Is Your Voice, The Fund for Women at Delaware Community Foundation and Philanthropy Delaware announced the four organizations receiving $2,500 awards from event proceeds are Meet Me at The Well Foundation, Zoe Ministries, Survivor Ventures, and Nurses & Neighbors Collaborative.

A faith-based organization, Meet Me at The Well Foundation supports a team of survivors and allies who provide highly individualized support for survivors of trafficking in their journey of healing through trauma-informed mentorship, outreach and support for achieving independence, safe and sustainable housing, and employment.

Zoe Ministries provides healing, safety and advocacy for those impacted or potentially impacted by sex trafficking. Currently, it offers professional trainings, traditional mentorship and clinical counseling. A youth residential aftercare home is planned to open this year. Founder Yolanda Montgomery was a panelist on the Talk Back portion of Goggin’s show.

Survivor Ventures provides survivors of human trafficking and commercial sexual exploitation with the support and resources needed to attain economic empowerment. Survivor Ventures was a Silver Sponsor of “Runaway Princess.”

Through collective nursing, Nurses & Neighbors Collaborative helps improve health and wellness in local neighborhoods, and provides support for nurses in the community through nurse-led projects. Nurses & Neighbors Collaborative was a Bronze Sponsor of Runaway Princess.

What Is Your Voice provides Sussex County with fully trained and skilled domestic violence peer support advocates. Through licensed counseling, the agency is addressing complex issues for those who have experienced mental health challenges, addiction, trauma, PTSD and grief.
