Williamson enters Republican primary for governor

July 9, 2024

Bridgeville resident Bobby Williamson filed for governor July 2, making him the third Republican seeking the state’s highest office.

Williamson graduated from Seaford High and took classes at the Sussex vocational facility before earning a master’s certification and running his own businesses.

As a third-generation Delawarean and lifelong Bridgeville resident, Williamson said he is a strong advocate for positive improvements in the rehabilitation of local housing and communities.

Williamson said current government mandates have put lifetime residents in financial hardship, and he has concerns about new policies regarding the construction industry and small businesses.

He said he believes in protecting children and parental rights, churches’ ability to exist and replacing "social alterations" with vocational trades of learning.

Williamson also said he wants to make sure Delaware does “not become an annex to California, but we will protect our fellow Delawareans constitutional rights and freedoms and some commonsense justice that all people deserve.”

Williamson joins a Sept. 10 GOP primary along with Jerrold Price of Lewes, and House Minority Leader Rep. Mike Ramone, R-Middle Run.
