Jo Ann Hopkins, loving wife, mother

Jo Ann (Von Duhn) Hopkins of Georgetown passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family Sunday, July 7, 2024. 

Jo Ann was born Dec. 16, 1949, to her parents Harry and Helen (Richmond) Von Duhn in Lakewood, N.J.   

She was raised in Mayetta, N.J. (home Martin Truex Jr.), graduated Southern Regional High School Class of 1968, and attended Chesapeake College, Wye Mills, Md. Jo Ann worked in banking until 1976 when she became a stay-at-home mom. With her husband, Ray, they purchased a Servpro franchise in Sussex County in 1993. She shared many great times with her family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death July 22, 1976, by her former husband Harold Ellis (Skip) Cranmer Jr.

Jo Ann is survived by children, Matthew Cranmer (Elizabeth) of Wallingford, Conn., and Amy Bechard (Jacob) of Crofton, Md; husband, Raymond Hopkins III, and his children Kathryn Howe (Todd) of Newark, Karen Hopkins of St. Michaels, Md., and Anne Jones (Andy) of Seaford; and grandchildren, Ben, Lauren, Ella, Gracie, Emily, Max and Wren.

For those of you who were here, thank you. For those of you who were not, I’m sorry you missed those times. Enjoy life while you can, and be kind to one another. 

A celebration of Jo Ann’s life will be held with visitation beginning at noon, Saturday, July 20, at Short Funeral Services chapel, 609 E. Market St., Georgetown. The service will begin at 1 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Jo Ann’s memory to the Tara Miller Melanoma Research Fund, 3535 Market St., Ste. 750, Philadelphia, PA 19104, at Penn Medicine.
