Dogfish Dash to benefit Sussex County Land Trust Sept. 28

August 2, 2024

Dogfish Head’s annual road race, the Dogfish Dash, will be held at 9 a.m., Sunday, Sept. 29, starting at the brewery. Runners will embark on a scenic, 3.81-mile journey through historic Milton and its natural surroundings, returning to the brewery for an afterparty.

This year, as part of Dogfish Head’s Beer & Benevolence program, 100% of proceeds will be donated to the Sussex County Land Trust, a nonprofit organization focused on preserving land and enhancing public access throughout lower Delaware.

“The Sussex County Land Trust is proud of our ongoing partnership with Dogfish Head and for this year’s dash in support of our ongoing efforts to protect resources through land preservation, stewardship and education,” said Ring Lardner, SCLT board chair.

The land trust is currently working to develop newly established parks and preserves throughout the county, including Hopkins Preserve, Hudson Park and the Forest of the Broadkill Preserve. These properties will provide active hiking and biking trails, as well as other recreational opportunities. They will also undergo enhancements such as reforestation to improve their ecological diversity. Hudson Park and Hopkins Preserve will feature trailheads along the Lewes-to-Georgetown trail, with improvements including bathroom facilities, playgrounds and more.
