Lord Baltimore Lions welcome new members

August 11, 2024

Lord Baltimore Lions Club recently gathered at Mac’s Catering for its first meeting of the new service year 2024-25. Attendees learned about club goals, and discussed plans for activities and service projects.

Welcomed as new Lord Baltimore Lions members were local residents Mary Beckett and Maureen Tomkeil. Sponsored for membership by Lion President Scott Brannan, both have already volunteered on club service projects. The induction ceremony was led by Past District Gov. Karl Gude, assisted by Lion Ray Wockley, who read the Lions Code of Ethics.

Tomkeil said, “I learned about the Lord Baltimore Lions when Lion Scott made a presentation for a group meeting at my church. The club activities were interesting to me, so I came to a meeting as a guest to learn more, and now I am a Lord Baltimore Lion.”

Guest speaker was Mary Louise Embrey, communications director for Service Dogs Saving Lives. The organization’s mission is to save and improve the lives of those suffering from mental health challenges by providing highly trained service dogs as a vital lifeline.
