American Legion Post 17 in Lewes hosted a fishing trip for veterans at Elsmere Veterans Hospital May 17 at the pier at Cape Henlopen Park. This is the seventh year that Post 17 has brought some vets to Lewes and the veterans look forward to the trip every year.
The tide was low at the pier and horseshoe crabs were feasting on the bait, but the vets all enjoyed their time out on the pier. Volunteers from Post 17 were on hand to assist the vets with baiting hooks and took them back to the post for lunch. Shown is Wayne Wilson trying his luck on the pier.
