Clifford M. Baker, hardworking man

Clifford M. Baker. 91, better known as “Bake,” passed away peacefully at his home in Georgetown Monday, Aug. 5, 2024. He was born July 24, 1933, to the late Larry and Verda (Campbell) Baker.

A true Delaware native, Bake was born in Milton and lived locally his whole life. In 1973, he married the love of his life, Hester “Vicki” Desmet. Bake spent most of his career as a heavy equipment operator who was known for his hard work ethic, finally retiring at 75. Bake loved all things farming, caring for the land, and all animals, especially horses and the numerous barn cats that turned up on the property. He also had a green thumb and could grow anything from seed. 

In addition to his parents, Bake is preceded in death by his sister, M. Helen Baker; and brother, Clarence Baker. He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Vicki; his son, Michael Baker; his daughter-in-law, Kristen Baker; and his grandson, Aeden Baker. 

No formal services will be held at this time.

Donations can be made on Bake’s behalf to the Alzheimer’s Association.
