Lewes couple celebrates 40th wedding anniversary

Don and Helen Flood of Lewes recently celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary at Big Fish Grill with friends and family. In attendance were Helen’s maid of honor, Cathy Miller, and Don’s best man, David Flood. Helen and Don continued the celebration on a Mediterranean cruise from Rome to Barcelona.

Don and Helen met at the Bottle & Cork in 1980, when they were introduced by mutual friend Richard Messick, a member of the popular local band The Funsters. They married July 1, 1984, and made their home in Dover. Don was editor of the Dover Post newspaper and Helen was an elementary school teacher. They were thrilled to become parents in 1990.

In 2008, Don and Helen retired to the beach area where they met; they now live in Lewes with their beagle Emma. Their son Josh lives with his wife Maggie in Portland, Ore.
