Electric co-op annual meeting set Aug. 13

Delaware Electric Cooperative will host its annual meeting Tuesday, Aug. 13, at the Delaware State Fairgrounds in Harrington. 

The community fair and dinner will begin at 3 p.m. in the Centre Ice Rink, followed by the business meeting at 7 p.m. in the Dover Building.

Co-op members can enjoy a free chicken dinner, meet with various community organizations during the fair and hear an update on the state of the cooperative from CEO and President Rob Book during the business meeting, along with an announcement of DEC’s summer board election results.

Live music will be provided by Salty Soles Duo and the Jones Boys, and DEC members are encouraged to bring their family members to enjoy the music and food. Members may even win a $50 billing credit.

Dewey audit group meets Aug. 14

The Dewey Beach Audit Committee will meet at 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 14, at the Lifesaving Station, 1 Dagsworthy Ave. The draft audit will be presented, and the committee may vote to recommend its acceptance to town commissioners. Lewes committees cancel meetings Aug. 15

The Lewes Johnnie Walker Beach Subcommittee and Lewes African American Heritage Commission have both canceled their meetings set for Thursday, Aug. 15.

Rehoboth board to meet Aug. 16

Rehoboth Beach commissioners will meet at 2 p.m., Friday, Aug. 16, in the city hall commissioners room, 229 Rehoboth Ave. The agenda includes a public hearing on possible changes to city code related to basements, an evaluation of City Solicitor Alex Burns’ job performance, possible adoption of a fund balance and net position policy, discussion on creating a task force to develop a mixed-use zoning ordinance, and a briefing by Clear Space Theatre Company on its path forward.

Dewey commissioners meet Aug. 16

Dewey Beach commissioners will hold a public hearing and monthly meeting at 3 p.m., Friday, Aug. 16, at the Lifesaving Station, 1 Dagsworthy Ave. A public hearing and possible vote will be held on a temporary expansion of premise application for Northbeach’s end-of-summer party Saturday, Aug. 31. Commissioners may also vote to approve the draft audit, and to request the climate change and marketing committees work together to create a public education campaign regarding climate change. Commissioners will also discuss a draft ordinance relating to establishment of minimum lot area requirements devoted to plantings and open space in the Neighborhood Residential zoning district, regulating the boundaries and materials used in driveways and walkways, and amending the definition of green space.
