Robert “Bobby” H. Bant 77, passed away peacefully Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.
Bobby was born Nov. 23, 1946, to William P. Bant and Eileen (Calhoun) Bant of Ocean View.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Billy; and his beloved grandparents, Norman and Sallie Calhoun.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Barbara; his loving son, Billy and his wife Laurie; and granddaughter, Lauren (DJ) Hickman. He is also survived by his sister, Bonnie Thomas (Ronnie); brother-in-law, John Hudson (Jessie); sister-in-law, Janice Porter (Eric); and nieces and nephews, Susan Krikelis and family, Erica Jester and family, Rob Hudson, and Brett Thomas and family.
Bobby was a graduate of Lord Baltimore High School Class of 1964. He was a proud veteran, having honorably served in the U.S. Coast Guard from 1965-71. Later, he built a career as a master electrician, working in retail as well as owning his own business. He retired as an electrical and building inspector serving in Delaware and Maryland.
Bobby was also an avid outdoorsman. He grew up fishing and hunting with his family on the Indian River and at the Calhoun family lodge on Pope’s Island. During retirement, Bobby continued with another family tradition and began carving duck decoys. He continued all of his outdoor pursuits until he became ill, never missing an opportunity to be outdoors with his family and friends, or just having a good conversation.
At his request, services and burial will be private.
Bobby will be deeply missed by all who knew him. We will forever carry his memory in our hearts.
