Frantic Frets to host Play Music on the Porch Day acts Aug. 31

August 22, 2024

Frantic Music Project will be a participating host for Play Music on the Porch Day from 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 31, at Frantic Frets, 26370 Broadkill Road, Milton. The live-music event, featuring 12 different acts, is free to attend. Food, refreshments, raffles and activities will be available for purchase.

Play Music on the Porch Day is a worldwide live-music movement now in its 10th year, held on the last Saturday in August at over 1,000 locations in more than 70 countries.

Musicians performing selections of unusual and original compositions will include headliner Rick Fink, a touring singer-songwriter from Brooklyn, N.Y.; along with Lavender Browne, Billy Band, Tree Folk; Tyler Greene and Chris Morrow. Artists will each perform a 20-minute set, representing different genres of music including folk, pop, rock, country and punk.

Developing Artists Collaborative will host a cash bar with alcohol and non-alcohol options for purchase, with proceeds benefiting DAC. The group will also offer an acrylic paint and pour activity for a fee, where participants can select and make a one-of-a-kind art piece to take home.

“This is a special day about the arts and the artists. Music and art play such an instrumental part in our daily lives and greatly contribute to the local economy. We are thrilled to be partnering with the DAC and having them on board for this, our first Play Music on the Porch Day,” said Mary Knight, Frantic Music Project co-founder.

Bobby and Chuckies Vending Food Truck will be on site with hot dogs, Polish sausage sandwiches and assorted sweet treats for purchase.

Admission is free, but attendees are encouraged to bring a non-food donation for the Milton Community Food Pantry collection. Suggested items are personal hygiene products like toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant, shampoo and denture cleaner; household cleaning products; paper products; or non-refrigerated milk.

Attendees should bring their own chairs, sunscreen and hats.
