Last Rites of Summer beach volleyball tourney set Sept. 13-15

Beach volleyball players from up and down the East Coast will soon converge on Rehoboth Beach for the Last Rites of Summer tournament. 

Officially known as the Mayor’s Cup 2024, the tournament will be held Friday to Sunday, Sept. 13 to 15, and is hosted by the Mid-Atlantic Volleyball organization.

The newly created MAV Legends Doubles session will begin at 3 p.m., Friday, for players ages 50 and over. 

Saturday is the big kahuna day of women’s and men’s doubles and triples, along with junior boys’ and girls’ triples. 

Sunday features coed doubles, triples and sixes, and also junior coed triples.

The weekend play begins at 9 a.m. with check-in between 7:45 and 8:30 a.m. at Harry K/Atlantic Jewelry Shop on the Boardwalk at Laurel Street. 

All levels of play will be represented, from those playing for exercise and fun with their family and friends to elite players competing for cash prizes and beach glory.
