Spence-Ash to discuss debut novel and writing journey Sept. 13
The Rehoboth Beach Writers Guild, in partnership with the Lewes Public Library and Browseabout Books, will host a breakfast chat with author Laura Spence-Ash about her book, “Beyond That, the Sea,” at 10 a.m., Friday, Sept. 13, at the library, 111 Adams Ave., Lewes.
Spence-Ash will share the details of her sweeping, tenderhearted novel, a love story of two families living through World War II on opposite sides of the Atlantic Ocean. In conversation with Maribeth Fischer, writers guild founder and executive director, Spence-Ash will discuss her personal journey returning to writing after a career in finance, marketing and administration. Following the discussion, Susan Kehoe, owner of Browseabout Books, will host a question-and-answer session with the author.
“I was eager to invite Laura Spence-Ash for an author conversation, not only because I loved her beautiful book, but also because Laura published this debut at age 62, and I felt she would have so much to offer our community,” said Fischer. “Many of us retire here, and finally – finally! – we allow ourselves to pursue some creative endeavor, but it's a pursuit often plagued with doubt and uncertainty. Laura will be speaking about her own similar journey, offering wisdom and inspiration as we discuss all things reading, writing and publishing.”
Registration is required at lewes.lib.de.us. Books will be available for purchase at the event.
