Albert Theodore Decker II, talented chef
Albert Theodore Decker II, 80, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and chef, passed away Wednesday, Sept., 4, 2024, in Milford. He was born Sept. 27, 1943, in Scranton, Pa., to Albert Theodore Decker and Mary Theresa Toomey of Dunmore, Pa. Albert’s life took him to many states, including Vermont, Connecticut, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and most recently, Delaware, where he had resided in Ocean View for the past four years.
Albert’s love for creativity and passion for cooking guided him through a fulfilling career as a catering chef. After studying at the Culinary Institute in Hyde Park, N.Y., he worked for 50 years at Foremost Caterers, where his culinary expertise and dedication shone through in every event he touched.
In addition to his culinary talents, Albert was known for his ingenuity as a tinkerer and DIY enthusiast. Whether fixing or building something, he brought creativity and skill to everything he did.
In April 1974, Albert married Dianne L. Kondrc, beginning a loving partnership that lasted five decades. He was a devoted father to six children and a proud grandfather to eight grandchildren, who brought him great joy.
Albert is survived by his loving wife, Dianne; his six children, James Decker, Diane Massi, Gregory Decker, Michael Decker, David Decker and Joshua Decker; his eight grandchildren, Julia Massi, Arianna Decker, Alyssa Massi, Phillipe Decker, Jenna Massi, Ophelia Decker, Emma Decker and Eloise Decker; and his brother, Robert Decker. He was predeceased by his older sister, Lynn Mary DeBell.
A prayer service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 21, at the Ocean View Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, 38040 Muddy Neck Road, Ocean View, where friends and family may gather after 10 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to a charity of choice in Albert’s name.
Albert’s kindness, creativity, and devotion to his family will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His legacy will live on in the hearts of his loved ones
