Outrage directed at wrong person

September 10, 2024

In his Sept. 6 letter in the Cape Gazette, Richard Urban charges Lt. Gov Bethany Hall-Long with failing to help manufactured home communities. She had nothing to do with that bill and has been a great friend to those of us who live own homes on leased land.

I feel Urban’s pain when House Bill 317 passed two years ago, opening the flood gates to huge sums of additional money to be pulled out of the Delaware economy from low- and middle-income families, retirees and veteran homeowners on leased land.

While I have nothing negative to say about any of the Democratic candidates for governor, Bethany Hall-Long is the only candidate to fully understand the financial peril those of use who own homes on leased land. She has been on our side since she served in the Senate.

I will be happy to provide Urban, or anyone, with the history of that infamous bill and how it hurts everyone in Delaware, particularly retail business owners.
