Crafts and Crafts fall artisan fair set Oct. 5-6 in Lewes

The Lewes Historical Society’s fall artisan fair, Crafts and Crafts, is set for 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 5 and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 6, at 110 Shipcarpenter St., Lewes. Alongside more than 50 regional artisans and craft vendors, local craft breweries and a meadery will offer samples of their products.

Artists demonstrating their crafts will be joined by LHS historic interpreters, who will educate attendees on the historic process of creating similar goods.

Demonstrations will include a centuries-old method of dyeing cloth conducted by Lucie Allen using a goldenrod dye. Historic interpreter Breanna Duncan will demonstrate basket weaving.

Workshops conducted by members of the Developing Artist Collaboration will give participants the opportunity to create their own personal works of art.

Included with admission for attendees ages 21 and above will be beer, wine and mead tastings sponsored by Dogfish Head Brewery, Crooked Hammock Brewery and Brimming Horn Meadery. Musical entertainment will be provided, and a variety of food trucks will be on site each day.

The Lewes Historical Society’s historical buildings will be open including the Sussex Tavern and the society’s Coffee House. Sussex Gardeners will be selling baked goods and drinks. Admission is $10 per person; children 12 and under are admitted free.
