Jonathan Lawrence Lokken, successful investment advisor
Jonathan Lawrence Lokken, known affectionately as Jon or Josh to his friends and family, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, Sept. 21, 2024, in Blacksburg, Va. He was born Nov. 20, 1961, in Karlstad, Minn. Jon's life was marked by his loving nature, kindness, and passion for his many interests and pursuits.
Jon is survived by his devoted wife of 27 years, Karlyn Lokken. His legacy of love and guidance lives on through his daughters, Hannah Lokken (Andrew Lee), Jessica Bimonte and Claire Lokken. He was a cherished son to his mother, Mary Karthauser (Jerry); and his father, Larry Lokken (Mae). Jon was also a beloved brother to Rachel Lokken (Bruce Bradford) and Amy Lokken. Jon's joy was multiplied with the birth of his grandchild, Henry Lokken Lee, and his role as a fun-loving uncle to his niece and nephews.
Professionally, Jon was the respected owner of Lokken Investment Group since 2008, where he applied his extensive knowledge and ethical principles to serve his clients. Before establishing his firm, he was a branch manager at Merrill Lynch in Rehoboth Beach. His colleagues and clients admired Jon for his integrity, expertise, and genuine care for their financial well-being.
Jon's passion for flying was more than just a hobby; it was a reflection of his adventurous spirit and pursuit of excellence. He held a private pilot's license and was instrument-rated, skills that he honed with the same dedication he applied to every aspect of his life. Also a lifelong golfer, Jon found joy and relaxation on the greens, often sharing this pastime with his wife and friends.
Jon's approach to life was characterized by his intellectual and loving nature. He was the kind of person who would go out of his way to help others, always with a kind word or a supportive gesture. But above all else, his family mattered the most.
Jon’s memory will continue to inspire and guide us, and his presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, Sept. 30, at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Hwy., Lewes, with visitation from 10 to 11 a.m.
