Elma Jean Walker, loved by many

Elma Jean (Passwaters) Walker, 84, passed away Sunday, Sept. 22, 2024, at her home in Double Springs, Ala. She was born in Dagsboro and grew up in Milton. 

She sang on the radio, and the fire hall loved her country music. My mom loved her family and missed my dad when he passed. She is being brought to lay to rest in her beloved Delaware. We will miss her talking about Christmas all year long. We loved her.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Bruce Walker; her brother, Dick Passwaters; her sister and brother-in-law, Janie and Donald Clifton; and her mother, Ruby Passwaters.

She is survived by her son, Bruce Walker of Double Springs, Ala.; her daughter, Jocasta Henson and her husband Chuck of Double Springs; her bonus son, Lynn Shumate; her grandsons, David Black of Guntersville, Ala., Travis Burket and his children of Virginia, and Christian Walker of Virginia; her granddaughter, Carolynn Black and her husband Jason VanHousen of Double Springs; her former son-in-law, David Black Sr.; her great-grandchildren, Autumn Black and Dakota Black of Alabama, they loved their mom-mom; her brother, Bob Passwaters and his wife Sharon; and her sisters, Ida Passwaters and Kelly Pettyjohn.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 2, at Short Funeral Services chapel, 416 Federal St., Milton. A time of visitation will begin at noon. Interment will immediately follow at Henlopen Memorial Park, Milton.
