Robert Paul Cox, avid outdoorsman
Robert “Bob” Paul Cox, 70, passed away suddenly Monday, Sept. 23, 2024, in Philadelphia, Pa. He was born Jan. 16, 1954, in Wilmington.
Bob was raised in Claymont, the beloved son of the late William Dana and Mildred Ada (Derrickson) Cox. Bob spent 45 years as an automotive mechanic, where his work ethic and passion for helping others through his trade were well-known in the community. As Bob was blessed with grandchildren, he retired to Georgetown to be closer to his son and family.
Bob was an avid outdoorsman, finding joy in hunting, fishing, and tending to his garden. He spent many years hunting in Morris, Pa., with lifelong friends before moving to Georgetown. However, his greatest joy came from spending time with his three grandchildren, who were the light of his life. Bob could be found at their sporting events, taking them on four-wheeler rides, or swimming with them in the pool.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Barbara McCann; and his brothers, Donald Cox and William Cox Jr. Robert is survived by his loving son, Eric Myers (Brandy); his adored grandchildren, Lauren, Lyndse, and Blake Myers; his sister, Carol Wissler; and brother, Raymond Cox.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 6, at Watson Funeral Home, 211 S. Washington St., Millsboro, where friends and family may call beginning at 1 p.m. for a visitation for family and friends to celebrate Bob’s life. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Bob’s name to Millsboro Fire Department, P.O. Box 83, Millsboro, DE 19966.
