Huxtable listens to, cares about community

October 4, 2024

I live in the Plantations. It’s an older development, created in the 1980s from a dairy farm. It has a park-like feel with expansive rolling lawns and trees between 25 condo buildings and 32 houses. Mature trees and white fences line Plantation Road.

Imagine how dismayed we were to learn that DelDOT had initial plans for new bike and walking paths that would mean the destruction of the trees, fences and the historic silos along Plantation Road. A few of our board members reached out to Sen. Russ Huxtable. He is a true representative of his constituents. He met with us, visited our entire development, and then reached out to DelDOT, whose representatives also were amicably meeting with us. He had some ideas, and the end result is that while there will be new bike paths, DelDOT revised its proposed plans so that our trees will be saved.

Sen. Huxtable cares. He listens. He is involved.
