County gatekeepers have failed residents

October 8, 2024

I am a come here not a from here, but I have come to love our beautiful Sussex County as much as anyone. Our beaches and farmland are spectacular. I especially love Lewes, which I now call home, and Rehoboth, which I consider my second home.

As a come here, I certainly understand why others wish to come here as well. I do not begrudge anyone that opportunity. However, action must be taken now in order for us to continue to keep our area beautiful and safe. Roads, traffic, water, electric and all the other pieces of infrastructure needed to support all of us must be put into place to keep our homes as wonderful as they are.

Our current county council members, or if you would, our gatekeepers, have fallen down on their job of protecting our interests. It seems they have other interests in the forefront of their priorities.

I believe it is time for change. I believe Jane Gruenebaum is the person to begin to lead that change. She cared enough about protecting and preserving the vital natural resources in Sussex County that even though she had retired, she has served as founder and president of the Sussex Preservation Coalition (not Preserve Sussex, which is a developer-funded political action committee purposely trying to mislead voters). And she recently resigned as SCP president to run for Sussex County Council District 3 seat because she has a plan for balance in Sussex. That plan includes: synchronize growth with infrastructure improvements, promote citizen access and transparency, rethink public transportation and require developers to help offset the costs of infrastructure.

I hope you will join me in supporting Jane. “If you feel the pain, vote for Jane.”
