Green Earth Book Awards livestream set Oct. 17

October 11, 2024

The Nature Generation and the Lewes Public Library, in partnership with Browseabout Books and Salisbury University, invite community members to view an online celebration for this year’s Green Earth Book Awards winners, honoring the best in environmental literature for youth.

Set to begin at 7 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 17, via Zoom, the program includes a short video on NatGen and GEBA, a keynote speech from Pod Bragg, presentation of awards to the winners, and remarks from each winning author and illustrator.

Bragg will discuss the The Great Elephant Migration project, a herd of 100 hand-crafted Indian elephant sculptures visiting several U.S. cities on a campaign for environmental conservation, activism and public art. “When we connect the environmental ethics of conservation to the creative work of indigenous artists and public art, we can inspire the world, and The Great Migration delivers this connection,” said Amy Marasco, NatGen founder and president. “Our Green Earth books open a window for the next generation to go places and learn about people and places they may never have imagined. These authors and illustrators are the Earth’s story tellers—inspiring all of us.”

To register, go to tinyurl.com/NatGenGEBA2024or call the library at 302-645-2733. Participants are invitedEaG to support the authors by purchasing their books from local independent bookseller Browseabout Books.
