Linda Ann Sciallo, retired CNA

October 9, 2024

Linda Ann (Moore) Sciallo, 83, of Lewes, went to be with the Lord Thursday, Oct. 3, 2024. She displayed great courage and tenacity in facing the challenges of Alzheimer’s disease. Despite the challenges, Linda came out as our hero and stayed strong until the end, keeping her magnetic smile and a twinkle in her eye.

Linda was born June 21, 1941, in Freeport, Long Island. She grew up in Massapequa, N.Y., and her high school years were spent in Sag Harbor, N.Y., at the Academy of the Sacred Heart of Mary.

Linda retired from her work as a CNA in 2004 and moved to Lewes in 2005. The historian in her loved that she lived in the First Town in the First State of the U.S. She used her CNA skills to work for Griswold Health Care for several years before retiring once again to enjoy Lewes Historical Society and explore all points north, south, east, and west in Delaware. She found great pleasure in finding new places to dine while visiting new areas.

Linda had a commitment to service opportunities and was a proud member of the Secular Franciscan Order. It seems fitting that she passed on the anniversary of Saint Francis’ death.  Linda was an active parishioner of both St. Edmond in Rehoboth and St. Jude in Lewes. She was a eucharistic minister and loved bringing the eucharist and a warm smile to the patients at Beebe Healthcare.

As an avid horticulturist, Linda nurtured her gardens with love and care in both New York and Lewes. She was particularly proud of her miniature rose garden with yellow roses being her favorite.

Linda was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Wilbur Perry and Catherine Moore; and her brother, Wilbur. She is survived by her daughter, Debbie Sciallo; son, Michael Sciallo; her four-legged sons, Abraham Lincoln and Shawn Patrick Sciallo; brother, Christopher Moore of Alabama; and sister, Jill Williams of Texas.

Linda will be interred in Greenport in Long Island, N.Y., where her ancestors, dating back to the 1600s, are at rest.

Linda’s legacy of compassion, faith, and love for life lives on in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be deeply missed.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 30, at St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church, 152 Tulip Dr., Lewes, where family and friends may visit beginning at 10 a.m.
